Officials in Kern County, a dusty, hot patch of California's Central Valley whose most notable feature is Bakersfield a place that many believe solely exists so people from Fresno have a city to look down on are attempting to clean up the place by passing a junk car ordinance. We're not fond of junk car laws, as they send vehicles to the scrapyard that could be legitimate resources for hot rodders. When a town like Bakersfield, whose scrappy, agriculture 'n' oil economy turned out greats like Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and Earl Warren turns into just another bedroom community for Los Angeles, well, that's when we know we made the right decision in leaving California.
