David Buchanan's 1956 Talbot-Lago T14 LS Coupé won the prize for the most sensitive restoration at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, which gives you an idea how much work went into it. It's a rare sight.
The T14 LS was presented at the 1954 Salon de L'Automobile de Paris featuring the brand's last self-developed engine, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with twin laterally mounted camshafts upgraded with five main bearings. It produced around 120 horsepower.
The aluminum body was the work of Letourneur et Marchand, but only 54 were sold due to the outdated underpinnings and the rather unreliable engine. Talbot-Lago switched to BMW power in 1957.
After I took my time to look at this car, I have to say I found myself walking back to it during the day. Apart from the amazing details, the overall shape sparked a strong desire for it. I'm pretty sure I've seen all those curves before somewhere, but all the tiny design clues put together just turn it into a very special automobile.
Take a look for yourself, from what seems to be two olive oil containers in the engine bay to the colorful wiring and the beautifully crafted chrome fuel cap, the list of wants is pretty much endless.
