Unable to sell their Malaise-era Chevy products, a group of dealers in Florida turned to a custom hot rod builder to create a more luxurious design that would attract buyers with aspirations larger than their wallets. The result was the Custom Cloud, which was basically a Chevrolet Monte Carlo coupe made to look more luxurious by remolding the body and adding a grille and taillights originally designed for Rolls Royce. The car was a hit, with nearly 2,600 built. Though Junkman356 might not approve, the car's designer eventually went on to design the Pierre Cardin Cadillac for GM.
