The Porsche Cayenne V6 puts out 300 horsepower and 295 pound feet of torque. They aren't exactly scintillating numbers for a heavy SUV.
So how does it accelerate to 142 MPH in 7.4 seconds? Poor copy editing.
According to Porsche's website for the Cayenne V6, the demon acceleration of the SUV can only happen when equipped with a manual transmission. Apparently, the six speed in the Cayenne contains some sort of warp gear to accelerate this quickly.
To put that into perspective, the Cayenne GTS takes 5.4 seconds to hit 60 MPH.
Now, obviously, this is a typo; The Cayenne V6 gets to 60 in 7.4 and has a top speed of 142. We let Porsche know about the error, although we secretly hope they have a car that quick in the works.
Our own Alex Lloyd is in Alaska right now to drive the Cayenne Diesel. Who knows, maybe that one has a top speed of 430 MPH. We'll have him find out.
