Pull up a chair, kids, and listen to how we were not quite old enough to catch reruns of the 1960s TV show "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." starring Robert Vaughn. We did, however catch a history lesson about the car star of that show, seen posing with the lovely Stephanie Powers (is that a model rocket in her hand or is she just ... oh, never mind). It was the Piranha, which began life as a prototype created to showcase one possible use for ABS plastics, and became a limited-production sports car courtesy of model-car empire AMT. Later, at the hands of custom-car builder Gene Winfield, the U.N.C.L.E Piranha was fabricated. Sadly, the cars were discontinued in 1969 when Chevrolet phased out the Corvair, with which the Piranha shared a powerplant. The end.
