Many have assumed that Pinterest merely serves as an online stomping ground for wedding planning. As the U.S. Central Command's presence on the social network shows, that assumption is patently false. In fact, Pinterest is more than just Tumblr for ladiez, it's Tumblr for WAR DOGS.
On that note, here are our five favorite photos CENTCOM has posted thus far.
WAR DOGS
Hey man, it's not all TITANIUM FANGS and agression all the time. Sometimes a WAR DOG just needs a belly scratch, ya know? (Photo by Cpl. Reece Lodder)
JETS
Who doesn't love jets? And who doesn't love a jet flying over water with the after burners all the way turned up? No brainer. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Jonathan P. Idle/Released)
FLARES
Not that there's really anything awesome about actual military action, but this shot, which was able to capture flares in mid-air, which were fired from a helicoper aiding special forces, is as impressive as it is haunting. (U.S. Navy photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Jacob Dillon)
IED HUNTING
This is like an archaeology dig of sorts. If you consider hunting for a buried improvised explosive device a form of Archaeology. (Photo by Sgt. Amanda Hils)
NUGGIES
That this soldier giving a local Afghanistani boy a nuggie isn't a total PR nightmare for the military alone makes this photo worth posting. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Eric-James Estrada)
BLACK HAWKS
It's difficult not to look like a pack of badasses when you have a BLACK HAWK CHOPPER casually posted up behind you. (Photo by Sgt. Daniel Schroeder)
WAR DOGS
What? you think I was going to pass up a chance to post MORE WAR DOGS?!?!?! THINK AGAIN. (Photo by Cpl. Reece Lodder)
