Here it is — the new-for-2013 Ford Shelby GT500 convertible, revealed with one press shot ahead of its debut tomorrow at the Chicago Auto Show.
The newest Shelby GT500 convertible with the optional Performance Package is — according to Ford — nearly 3.5 seconds faster than the outgoing model at Sebring International Raceway. What that means in terms of 0-60 time or ring times, who knows. What we do know is that Ford claims the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 puts out — like its top-up brother — 650 horsepower. It'll also come with the same Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers and new Brembo brakes.
But although the non-vert GT500 will do 200 MPH+, the convertible, thankfully (and I can't believe I just said that) has been limited to just 155 MPH. Because you wouldn't want those old farts who buy this car to die in horrible crashes now, would we?
We'll have more tomorrow morning, but just look to the GT500 coupe for any details we're missing here.
