The BMW i3 is a nice, pleasant little city car that sounds perfectly fine for people looking for something a little more premium than a Prius. But the 95 mpg, lightning quick BMW i8? That's the one you want. And ownership will put you out $135,925.

It's pricey for sure, but considering the level of technology and performance involved here — zero to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds from an electric motor that works with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three cylinder — the price sounds appropriate.

In total, the i8 is said to have a combined 362 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, all to power a very stylish body that weighs just 3,285 pounds. And it looks like the future inside. Also, doesn't look downright sinister in black? Wow.

I think the i8 is a pretty impressive effort. I can't wait to see how this kind of tech trickles down to BMWs the rest of us can afford.
