Buttons and dials and levers, holy crap. The 2005 BMW M5 takes more technology to get up and go than an F/A-18C Hornet from a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. But when it does get going, the M5's 500 horses, channeled through the world's first sequential 7-speed manual tranny, lets loose like a four-door version of the Hornet, chirping through gears one, two and three. And at $105,000, comparing it to a fighter jet is probably the only way to make the M5 seem like a bargain.
