The folks over at UK's Autocar snagged pics of the next Mercedes C-Class wagon undergoing testing in Germany. According to those UK magaziners, it'll be a 2008 model (not 2007 as had been speculated). That means the premiere is more likely Geneva '07, not Paris '06. According to the mag, European buyers of the new, longer-wheelbase C-Class will get to choose from the width and breadth of Mercedes engines, that is, the 1.8-liter four-cylinder or 2.5, 3.0 or 3.5-liter V6s — or, for the higher-mpg-lower-rpm folks — a choice of a 2.2 and 3.0-liter diesels — and the new, 286bhp bi-turbo C350 CDi. Then, there's the widowmaker: AMG's 6.2-liter C63 V8. But other than the styling and wheelbase — what's the big news? It's the hybrids — gas-electric for the US and diesel-electric for Europe. Mercedes: the Burger King of luxury car builders.
