Working up a competitive offering in this category is part of the company's turnaround effort, and its decision to take it midsize is likely to fill the gap left by its outgoing Montero Sport. The new ' lander be based on a modified version of the Lancer platform, making it ever more car-like than the Monty. Word is they'll be including a third row of seats destined to crush the dignity and knees of all invited to shoehorn their adult arses back there. It'll also be a contender in the horsepower wars, with a new version of Mitsu's 3.0-liter V6 that could produce 250 hp.
