It is wonderful to be here in the great state of Chicago...
— Dan Quayle
Bob Fulkerson caught a new Kia Magentis/Optima during a commercial shoot in Chicago, outside his apartment window — ahead of the models' official unveiling at the Frankfurt motor show. The car in question appears to be tagged as a Magentis, meaning the Windy City, particularly — if our limited Chicago knowledge is correct — just a few blocks west of Lake Shore Drive, is providing the backdrop for Kia's European advertising. Word is ths Optima/Magentis will get either a 2.4-liter four or 2.7-liter V6 when it's launched in late 2006 as a 2007 model, and be built in Korea, not at parent Hyundai's new Montgomery, Alabama plant.
