Edmunds Inside Line has some video footage of Subaru's special-edition Spec B Legacy GT during road testing in the US. Apparently, Subaru is bringing the Spec B Legacy — which could sport a 276-hp single-turbo / intercooled 2.0-liter flat-four, if not the 2.5-liter mill used in current US-spec GTs — stateside. (Sport Compact Car test-drove the Japan-spec model last year.) The Japanese Spec B gets the smaller, rally-inspired 2.0-liter, with a specially designed exhaust manifold and twin-spool turbo to increase low-end torque. Cosmetically, a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, like that in the WRX STi, and an interior trim package will conspire to give it the Spec B vibe, and tiptronic-style, steering-wheel-mounted shift selectors will likely allow for track-style up- and downshifts. When will we see it for real, and will only 500 be built? We'll know more in '06.
