Mitsubishi is gunning to recapture sales and rebuild a brand that's been battered and debased by sub-par performers and deep dealer incentives. Part of the plan to save the ailing Chrysler underling is an expanded line, including a re-entry into the mid-sized light truck space with a Dodge Dakota—based pickup, the Raider. B. Priddy and Co. spotted an advance model being transported in Southern Californa. Word is the Raider will be powered by a 3.7-liter V-6 with 210 horsepower, or an optional 4.7-liter V-8 with 230 hp. We think Chrysler should stop using the company to plug holes in its own line and turn Mitsubishi into a performance-only shop, a la Lotus (in performance brand value, if not production prowess). A whole line of Ralliart-tuned Evos up and down the spectrum, from sedans to roadsters? That would kill.
