South Africa has a well-earned reputation for being a terrible place to drive, with a per-capita fatality rate ten times higher than America. Behind the statistics lie some awesomely random and chilling events, a few of which inevitably end up on tape.
South Africa's Car magazine has posted three clips from traffic cameras around the Western Cape. Violations of basic driver's common sense range from grossly excessive speed to being oblivious to the poor slow guy trying to get across the expressway, but their second video (posted above) defies easy explanation. One driver being distracted by a cellphone or asleep at the wheel is bad enough; two at exactly the same spot within a few hours is freakish.
