Some Sadness: NASCAR Champ Benny Parsons Passes Away

We'll keep this short. Former Detroit tax-cab driver Benny Parsons — who also happened to win the 1973 Winston Cup, the 1975 Daytona 500 and get himself named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers — died of complications from lung cancer. In addition to his on the track heroics, since 1989 "BP" has been a much loved NASCAR announcer (Benny's Buffet!), even scoring a Cable Ace Award for his efforts. Much respect Benny, and we're sorry to see you go.
