Steve Saleen's SMS has taken a crack at the new 5.0-liter Mustang with the naturally-aspirated, SMS 302 Mustang producing 440HP/400lb-ft of torque and the roots-supercharged 535HP/450lb-ft SMS 302SC Mustang. Of course there's a whopping-big spoiler and also the upcoming 351X.

The base car makes it's additional power by way of an all-new head design, new intake, new exhaust, freer-flowing air filter and revised engine mapping. The heavy-breathing supercharged model knows all the same tricks with the addtion of an SMS 296 asymmetric lobe roots type supercharger and intercooler. The NA car clocks in with a 0-60 time under the 4.5 seconds factory time and a 13.5 second quarter mile. The supercharged car goes to 60 MPH in 4.3 with a quarter mile ET of 12.1 (smookin').

Both cars also get significant upgrades to the suspension in the springs, shocks, anti-roll bars, and bushings along with a set of Pirelli PZero tires and upgraded brakes. Of course there's also the styling upgrades including the monster spoiler and ground effects and a custom interior. Mentioned but not formally unveiled today is also the SMS 351X Mustang, which Steve Saleen says will have

"even more horsepower than the SMS 302SC, this supercharged beast will be the pinnacle performer of any production Mustang. More information on the SMS 351X will be released in the next few months"
