The Chrysler Cordoba may have been the most brilliant automotive marketing success in the history of Detroit. Chrysler's entry-level luxury coupe, introduced in 1976, was a relatively agile, relatively luxurious, relatively affordable, relatively powerful and altogether unremarkable Dodge Charger offshoot. Unremarkable, that is, if not for a brilliantly executed association with Andalusian Spain and an camp-fest ad campaign starring "Fantasy Island" star, Ricardo Montelban, an unremarkable actor who delivered the line "fine Corinthian leather" with the dramatic presence of a Count Chocula impersonator. They sold tons of them.
