Strange how, with all the technology we have these days, so many BMW watchers are pointing to the company's 2001 X-coupe concept as a new model in development.
Despite the strangely uninformed buzz, the X Coupe concept debuted at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show. The radically designed car introduced what would become BMW's controversial "Flame Surfacing" design direction, led by design chief Chris Bangle. (We all know how that turned out.)
Maybe the photo-chop below, from a recent issue of Auto Zeitung fanned the flames of speculation. Sorry to disappoint.
