Seven hours deep and Team Eyesore Racing is extending their lead with their (freshened motor) turbo Miata. Are they also extending their share of the votes for the dreaded People's Curse? Rumors are rampant.

Head gaskets are blowing. Cars are spinning out of control. One hour to go until the first day is done and the "real" racing begins. Bench racing that is. A lot of cars are already in the paddock with ugly puddles underneath them. Three teams have already scheduled cherry picker time. Below are some action shots from Jeff Balliet of ASK photography.

I don't understand why they keep the car cost cap so low, to the point where the cars themselves are usually unreliable. Even if they raised it a couple of grand people going through all that trouble could at least afford a decent engine that can finish a single race (and a deluxe radiator). From what I heard you have to spend thousands on safety equipment, but only $500 on the car?
