When Chevrolet introduced their Astro van in 1985 they wanted the world to know a few things about it—there had never been anything quite like the Astro in all of the universe and it may or may not have been capable of flying through space. At least that is what we take away from this vintage commercial.
It's clear Chevy pulled out all of the stops with this commercial writing a dramatic Astro song and employing cutting edge technology to show the uniquely sized van planet moving through space with ease and successfully navigating a drive on the rings of Saturn.
Although this vintage advertisement now seems laughably dated, we are fairly convinced that even if the Astro wasn't quite as revolutionary as advertised this was likely the first depiction of a minivan flying through space the world had ever seen.
