Having since made his (albeit fictional) name as a film director, Alan Smithee has nailed what's likely the first published review of the 2006 Mercedes S-Class for The Truth About Cars. Smithee says it's not the back massages and aggressive wheel-well arches alone that make Mercedes's newest generation of flagship a hit. It's a combination of class and bull-moose gravitas that raises the threshold on what buyers can expect from Merc's top-of-the-mast sedan. Onward and upward, as it were. [Update: Word from the producers: Smithee's out Shoemaker's in. Brad Pitt signed on to play the S-Class. It'd be a blockbuster for sure.]
