The theft of a Mercedes S 600 owned by J rgen E. Schrempp, chairman of the DaimlerChrysler board of directors, may have been ordered by the Russian mafia, according to Germany's Bild newspaper. The 3.5-ton car, stolen in Stuttgart three weeks ago, had been customized with armor plating and security systems, and was valued at around $800,000. The paper, which quoted the findings of an investigation into the incident, did not elaborate on how the conclusion was reached. One shadowy figure, a small, swarthy man with a Muscovite accent, was quoted as saying, "We have car. Now we go after moose and squirrel."
