Although most modern junkyards automotive recycling centers are full of fairly boring and generic cars, when they are located in another country like this facility in Russia the cars are a lot less commonplace and a lot more interesting—at least to us.

One need only look as far as the Lada Riva to see that what may be run of the mill automobiles to Russians are intriguing automotive oddities to some Americans.

These pictures were taken at "Moscomet" Co. Ltd., one of the few modern waste recycling facilities in Russia where piles of cars wait to be dismantled and crushed. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell from the pictures which cars were recycled out of necessity and which ones were put to death as the spiteful act of a frustrated owner.
