Rolls-Royce is dusting off the Wraith name for the Geneva Motor Show in March for something rather special. According to Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös, we can expect the third model of BMW's luxury brand to have "the boldest design, the most dramatic performance and the most powerful Rolls-Royce that has ever played host to the famous Spirit of Ecstasy figurine." We can't wait.
The original Wraith was produced between 1938-39 with a 4257 cc straight-six and a four speed gearbox. Weighting around 1.9 tons, that was enough for 85 mph. The new car will certainly do better than that. The promised "cutting edge technology and peerless craftsmanship" should translate to an upgraded V12 in the front producing close to 500 600 horsepower, wrapped in a sleek and timeless body that shows the styling direction Roll-Royce is aiming for after the current Phantom and the Ghost get the axe.
Sounds exciting, especially if they somehow fail to keep it away from Charlie Sheen...
