Rolls-Royce Invests in Fuel-Cell Venture

Ultra-luxury buyers may soon find themselves avoiding the hoard of plebes in cars that sup on only the finest hydrogen. Rolls-Royce is investing $100 million in developing a power system based on fuel cell technology. The company (not the carmaker, now owned by BMW) actually began research into fuel cell technology a decade ago, and recently established a wholly-owned subsidiary, Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell Systems Ltd (RRFCS), to handle fuel-cell R&D.
