"Oh ye of little faith," the Dodge Boys appear to be saying to enthusiasts lamenting those extra doors on its new Charger. "We have not forsaken ye." All the world is reporting on an Automotive News report that Dodge will pin the historic Challenger name on a Mustang-challenging two-door, which would share a platform with the Charger and Chrysler 300, in 2009. It sounds like cause for handing out cigars, though four years seems like a long time horizon to launch a Mustang competitor, and GM could end up beating Dodge to market with with the long-anticipated (but recently shelved) new Camaro — kicking off a new Pony-car era. Either way, we win.
