According to Automobile, the Devon GTX has gone the same way as the Dodge Viper its based on. Such a shame, especially considering the 650 HP, carbon-bodied supercar set lap records at both Laguna Seca and Willow Springs. [Automobile]
Maybe I'm missing the point, but I don't really see how this is such a big deal.
The Viper has not had any major changes since 2003, which means it is about due for replacement anyway. I don't think that was even a total clean-sheet design, which means some parts of the platform may date as far back as 1989.
Its not like this is the death of exciting cars for Dodge, they've said they're replacing it with a new model for 2012, and its not like Fiat doesn't have access to any cutting edge modern sports car technology - Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, and Maserati are all part of the Fiat group and it certainly would be no bad thing to base a Dodge sports car on one of those platforms. They can always just slap the Viper name on the new car to keep the fanboys happy.
