Here’s driver’s ed student and Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula One driver Max Verstappen going side-by-side with Sauber’s Felipe Nasr through Blanchimont at the Belgian Grand Prix in case you somehow forgot that Verstappen is awesome. Dude is a beast.
Verstappen may be saddled with the same unreliable Renault power unit that keeps hosing the Red Bull and Toro Rosso teams, but he certainly knows how to make the most out of that power whenever it does work.
He started in 18th place today after being penalized for an engine change. A power loss during the first round of qualifying influenced the team to merely park Verstappen’s car and not even set a time for the second round of qualifying. Why bother? He’ll be in the back anyway.
Looks like they got the issue solved for the race, though. As of this writing, he just passedBottas for ninth place. Beast mode. Pure beast mode.
UPDATE: Verstappen just finished in eighth after trying a ballsy overtake (that didn’t work) on Kimi Räikkönen. He’s the best kind of nuts.
