Ray's popped over to the GM Technical Center in Warren, MI to check out the General's big presentation this morning (11:00 am — 11:30 am) regarding its announcement to build the Camaro. According to Automotive News, CEO Rick Wagoner said Chevrolet's next-generation Camaro will go into production in late 2008 for an early-2009 sale date. He also said the line model will share resemblance with the concept car and will retain independent rear suspension (no live axle for this pony). Still no word on a Firebird. Stay tuned for Ray's coverage later today. [UPDATE: The press release says the production version will "closely resemble the concept car unveiled in January at the Detroit auto show." Talk among yourselves.]
