Well, they’ve gone and done it. A company in Florida got last-minute approval last week from Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency to build a practice road using radioactive materials. It seems like such an obviously bad idea, but a bad idea never stopped the government. - Erin Marquis Read More

You will never be a rock god or drumming GOAT like Rush’s Neil Peart, but you can buy his 2004 BMW R1200 GS, you know, if you’re a Working Man. Who needs a Red Barchetta when a great motorcycle like this is Closer To The Heart? This Marakech Red machine was purchased new by Peart from McBride Cycle in Toronto and it appears he’s put lots of miles and lots of love into his ownership. Now is your chance to buy this bike when it comes up for auction in February at Mecum’s Las Vegas Motorcycle Sale. - Bradley Brownell Read More

When you like cars, idea of a society built around cars sounds pretty great. There are some downsides to that plan, though, and we’re not just talking about the risk of someone crashing their car into your house. A new study found that while not having a car in the U.S. is bad for your overall life satisfaction, so is being forced to drive more than half the time you leave the house, the Guardian reports. Basically, having to drive all the time is making you less happy. - Collin Woodard Read More

The race to land man on the moon in the 1960s was a wild time for engineers, who were working at the edge of what was possible to try and fly a rocket the size of a 25-story building to our nearest astronomical body. While the science was groundbreaking, the testing process wasn’t always as cutting-edge. - Owen Bellwood Read More

It’s law: Cars may be fast, but bikes are faster for the money. Sure, two wheels lose cornering grip relative to four, but a $3,500 Suzuki Hayabusa will match a Bugatti Veyron in the quarter mile — straight line speed goes to the bikes. Electric power, though, is starting to even that equation: Now you’ll only need a Porsche Taycan or Ferrari SF90 to match a high-end literbike. - Amber DaSilva Read More

Cruises are gross. With so many people in a confined space, vacation-goers play a game of illness roulette anytime they step on a cruise ship. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recorded 16 gastrointestinal illness outbreaks aboard vessels in 2024, a 12-year high. While the figure is the highest total in over a decade, there are typically 12 outbreaks per year. - Ryan Erik King Read More
