Purdue Grand Prix: Homebuilt Mayhem on Campus

Boilermaker Timothy O'Brien, a senior Engineering student, took home his third first-place in four years in the Purdue Grand Prix last weekend. The 48th running of the race, for which students build their own Yamaha KT-100-powered go-karts, is no doubt one of the more interesting things to go on in West Lafayette each year. It's good training too: a number of Purdue's karting fiends have gone on to work for high-profile race teams. To wit, O'Brien already has a gig with the crew of Busch Series driver Reed Sorenson. Unfortunately, our extracurricular activities in college only qualified us to edit punk rock magazines, and apparently, to substitute blog. [Thanks to Scotty for the tip.]
