Porsche Boxster Spyder GT4? Yes, Please

The Porsche Boxster Spyder is stripped-down, lighter, manual only and with a fancy fabric top. So what would happen if you made it more powerful and track-capable, like the Cayman GT4? That’s right: Boxster Spyder GT4, a thing Porsche is apparently considering.

This news comes from the UK’s Autocar, which reports that the company is mulling a Boxster Spyder GT4 because demand for the Cayman GT4 has exceeded all expectations. (Because it’s awesome.) From the story:

Spurred by demand for the Cayman GT4 exceeding all its internal predictions, a senior source at the company said, “We are looking at it right now. Much of the engineering has already been done for the Cayman, so we think this might be a good direction for us.”

Such a Boxster could have the Cayman GT4’s 385 horsepower, GT3-sourced adjustable front suspension, GT3-spec competition brakes and aero kit. And the Boxster Spyder is already nearly 70 pounds down from the Boxster GTS thanks to the manual roof and no air conditioning, though you can get that last one as an option if you really want.

Fingers crossed. Best Boxster ever? Best Boxster ever.
