Remember how the Pontiac G6 was going to save Pontiac's ass, and how everybody kind of smiled and said, "um, ok, whatever"? It appears the ums have it. Owing to slow sales, GM is cutting production of the midsize model and will lay off between 250 and 400 workers from the Orion Township factory that builds it, The Detroit News is reporting today. The would-be Honda Accord killer appears never to have gained much traction in the most competitive of market segments, despite major promotions (wither, Oprah?). Delaying the release of the coupe and convertible models didn't help sales, either.
