Europeans aren't the only ones feeling short-changed by the auto industry. Lots of Americans (full disclosure: like us) think automakers are underestimating the pent-up demand for performance-minded hatchbacks in the states. We're not sure if they base their "hatchbacks won't sell" theory on the paltry TV ratings of rally-car coverage in the US, but we do know there are plenty of people in America who would abandon their current rides (likely Japanese- or German-made, mind you) and buy a European-style Ford Focus RS.
