This week at TreeHugger: Nobody was quite sure what to expect when ZAP showed up at this year's North American Auto Dealer's convention in Las Vegas to show off their line of electric vehicles. But the proof was in the pudding, or in the signing, as the case may be. Car dealers signed on the dotted line placing 2,300 unbreakable orders for electric cars from ZAP. From ZAP to Zip, Zipcar rolls out a newfangled web reservation system for those with no interest in owning a car at all. And speaking of electric cars... Tesla, Tesla, Tesla. As if we could get enough of the fastest electric roadster around, Tesla Motors has announced it will open five American dealer outlets from California to Florida. Boasting 200 mpg, a diesel hybrid engine, and a striking resemblance to mushed up marshmallows, the Aptera might be closer to becoming a reality than we thought. Also this week, the four biggest US automakers say they're finally ready for some carbon reduction rules.
