Unfortunately for Conor Daly, his number 43 Smithfield-sponsored “Fueled by Bacon” car was overly crispy before the race even started. Conor’s Schmidt Peterson Motorsports team said that the car’s exhaust system got hot and caused the fire.

Daly was one supposed to be of the promising young talents in this race, however, the fire wasn’t repairable in time for him to make the start. Fortunately, he made it back into the pits unharmed.
