The newest among Chevy-powered semi—kit cars to emerge from the UK's Ultima sports-car builders has toasted a speed record set by one of its predecessors. The Ultima 720GTR recently performed the zero-100mph-0 sprint in 9.4 seconds — breaking its sibling's previous record of around 10 seconds and destroying the 10.9-second run of the next-best performer, the Ferrari Enzo. The 720-hp lightweight also did the zero-to-60mph in 2.6 seconds, 0-100mph in 5.3 seconds and 100-to-zero in a g-forceful 3.6 seconds — all world-record times for a street-legal car, according to the Guinness Book. And we'd imagine more than a few pints of that stuff were consumed afterward in celebration, though the driver was probably easy to pick out at the pub, him being the one holding a pint glass up to his inside-out face.
