Nissan Motorsports (Nismo), the carmaker's in-house performance shop, is looking to assume a higher profile among Nissan's product line, according to the general manager of Nismo Europe. Nismo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nissan, is planning to expand its motorsports and road car operations to rival that of Mercedes' AMG, at least in public perception. Autocar reports the first Nismo model, a tuned version of the 350Z, could be on sale as early as 2005. And it's not like Nissan, the Sominex of car brands (outside the enthusiast community, of course — most people don't know a Skyline from a Skylark) doesn't need the shot of adrenalin.
