It'll be a happy Oktoberfest this year for 1,000 of VW's workers in Wolfsburg, Germany, where the company announced it will build its long-speculated CrossGolf (codename: Marrakesh) — an allroad version of the larger Golf Plus. One VW body had recommended the company build the new SUV in Portugal, where it would have saved around $1,200 per vehicle. But even as the bier flows and w rst churns, those workers will understand they were part of a union concession that could result in them working more hours for less pay than many of their VW peers, saving around $960 per vehicle.
