Soon, such duties as warning drivers of lane departure, monitoring the road ahead for situations to avoid and carping about drivers' inability to provide their wives with a lifestyle befitting their physical attractiveness will fall to electronic means — at least the first two will; MIL units will likely retain the third. A combination of cameras and specialized algorithms will spot patterns resembling an incident to avoid, and warn drivers to take corrective action — such as finding a job with more import than logging clipped comments on automotive Web sites.
