Infiniti is slotting a new five-seat, crossover (read: unit body) SUV into its lineup, AutoWeek is reporting. While the new vehicle may bear some family resemblance to the 2001 FX45 concept (pictured), it definitely will be smaller than the FX series and compete with the BMW X3, Land Rover's next-generation Freelander, and about a dozen other models coming from Volkswagen, Jeep, Acura, Cadillac and probably every other entity with access to engineers, designers and corporate shareholders. Sources say it'll be available in two versions, the CX25 and CX35 (in four- or six-cylinder, plus a hybrid) built on Nissan's adaptable front midship (FM) platform, on which the Nissan 350Z and Infiniti FX both ride.
