The British are so serious about beating the Americans, the Germans, the Swedish and everybody else when it comes to autonomous driving technologies that they developed a 300+ hp off-roader to even the playing field. Or more like turn it into a muddy mess.

The Wildcat was donated by defense specialist BAE Systems to the Oxford University's Department of Engineering Science, who turned it into a self-driving car:

The vehicle is equipped with computer controlled steering servos, an extra braking system and a hotline into the vehicle's engine management system for speed control. In addition, wireless data links, GPS and laser ranging sensors were installed so that the Wildcat could receive instructions, navigate and avoid hitting obstacles.
