The Blue Oval has teamed up with a group from Northwestern University and Boeing to work on practical applications of nanotechnology for automotive use. While FoMoCo has already used nanotechnology in paint and catalytic converter development, the new work focuses on areas like nanocomposite materials which would have a significantly higher strength-to-weight ratio, as well as using the ideas to create smaller, lighter, more efficient batteries for hybrids. As for us, we can't wait for nanotubeless tires. Wait? They're already here? Damn, the future is so now, yo.
