The BMW M5 is as old-school as high-performance sedans get. Name an opponent, and the M5 has taken it down. But can it hold its own against the comeback kid of 2009, the resurgent Cadillac CTS-V?
That's what our pals at MotorWeek sought to find out when they took the M and the V to Georgia's Roebling Road Raceway, having decided this title bout was too big for their little Owings Mills, Maryland.
In one corner, we have the beefy, V10-powered M5, described by Mr. John Davis as "muscular, but not bulging; think old-school like Gentleman Jim Corbett in his street clothes."
In the other, we have the CTS-V, "a visual statement that promises blunt-force trauma to all who get in its way; call it a young Mike Tyson in a torn t-shirt."
Who comes out on top — Germany's reigning champeen or America's eager new challenger? Grab some popcorn and put the kids to bed, it's time to ruuuuuuuummmmbleeeeee!
