The Connaught Type-D is cooler than shit, in an enviro-techie way, despite its conservative performance and price in the Mercedes S Class range. Just saying "V10 hybrid" makes us giddier than Paula Abdul celebrating "Free Vicodin Tuesday" at Walgreens. A top speed of 140mph is coaxed from the 2.1-liter ten banger, which employs a 48-volt electric motor powered by capacitors (see BMW's reported hybrid-drive system).
