Mopar Speed Shops Delayed

The much-anticipated Mopar Speed Shops, set to begin opening in selected Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealerships this year, have been slow to arrive. The shops, big C's bid to tap into the $30 billion aftermarket parts market, were set to begin opening in 2003, with 100 in place by year's end. To date, however, fewer than 20 have opened, a year after that unmet milestone. The shops will sell performance kits for the Dodge Neon SRT-4 and Ram, and soon Chrysler 300C sedan, as well as, we salivate, the upcoming Dodge Charger. An automaker that gets the fun quotient? How f-ing novel.
