Fuel leaks are never sexy. The fumes pollute the air and worse, leaked fuel can catch on fire more easily than most things. Unfortunately for Mercedes-Benz, a whole bunch of fuel filters may have been manufactured with a weakness that could cause them to leak fuel.

The recall, scheduled to begin in January, affects 2011-2012 S400, S550, S550 4Matic, S63 AMG, C300, C300 4Matic, E350, GLK350, GLK350 4Matic, CL550 4Matic, and CL63 AMG models. Mercedes said they'll be in touch with owners and dealers, and will replace the fuel filter free of charge.
