I’ve never understood why automakers put their pie-in-the-sky concept cars that real people can’t buy in movies and TV shows (unless they’re set in the future, like I, Robot or something), but Mercedes is doing just that with the upcoming Justice League movie.
Along with the new Batmobile, the boring, rich alter ego will be hustling around Gotham or wherever in a slightly bigger version of the Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo that debuted all the way back in 2013 for the Gran Turismo video game. I wonder if Bats here has the whole racing seat and wheel console setup in the corner of the cave?
The original “concept” or whatever you want to call it had to be tweaked for the movie though, with Mercedes scaling it up around “10 percent” larger than it’s already ridiculously large footprint to now feature a seemingly-realistic interior.
In this imaginary world where people with superheroes level entire cities before realizing their mothers share the same name, this Mercedes is likely still powered by the 577 horsepower V8 of the original concept car.
Wonder Woman also gets a new Mercedes, with the introduction of the new E-Class Cabriolet. It’s no invisible jet. I can’t help but wonder how Mercedes might find a way to get Aquaman a car? Kind of unfair to leave him out just because he, you know, lives underwater.
