As we told you earlier today, the compact Mercedes A-Class is coming to the United States for the first time.

Mercedes hasn't had much luck with small cars in the past. Their current efforts with the SMART brand have been extremely disappointing for the company here in America and before that there was the Mercedes C-Class Sportcoupe, which was way too expensive for entry-level lux buyers who instead rushed to Acura and Lexus.

Will this latest A-Class finally break their unlucky streak? A mixture of sharp-edged styling, direct-injected turbocharged engines, and a (hopefully) reasonable price might finally break Benz into the lower end of the market.

All it needs is an AMG halo model with AWD and 300 horsepower. Am I right?
